City, School Officials Sworn Into Office
On Monday, January 2, 2012 Mayor Michael McGlynn and members of the Medford City Council and School Committee were officially sworn into office. The elected officials’ two-year terms will run through the end of 2013.


Mayor Michael McGlynn is sworn into his thirteenth consecutive term by Associate Justice Elizabeth Cremins.

City Solicitor Mark Rumley, Deacon at the Immaculate Conception Church, delivered the invocation.



Domenic Marcellino, a Vietnam War veteran, served as Master of Ceremonies.


Congressman Ed Markey made some brief remarks during the inaugural ceremony and praised Mayor McGlynn for his leadership and accomplishments.

Mayor McGlynn recognized his family during his speech, including his parents, Helen and Jack McGlynn.


Honored guests included student escorts Sean Freeman, Veronica Atocha Alvarez, and Maxwell Kennedy-Reid as well as public officials such as Congressman Edward Markey, State Representative Sean Garballey, Tufts University President Anthony Monaco, and State Representative Carl Sciortino.


The Pledge of Allegiance was delivered by McGlynn Middle School seventh graders Joseph Farah, Jon Minotti, Scott Harris and Benjamin Candee, who distinguished themselves at the December 19 School Committee meeting with a well-delivered presentation on the need to update the school district’s technology.

MHS senior Chris Bucknam introduced the families of School Committee and City Council members.



The MHS Alumni Band under the direction of Marsha Caron.


Melody Michaelson, June Michaelson, Goldie Wolfson, Shani Wolfson, and Adira Wolfson performed an original song for the crowd.



Reverend John Page of the Shiloh Baptist Church delivered the benediction.
