The Medford Public Schools has cancelled classes and all afterschool programs and extra-curricular activities for Friday, February 8, 2013 due to the impending blizzard.
While the storm will start slowly and intensify throughout the day, it was deemed best to avoid situations where travel conditions throughout the day could become unsafe.
This notice is being posted early so as to allow parents/guardians to make appropriate arrangements for the coverage and care of their children if they are required to report to work.
The school buildings will also be closed on Saturday, February 9, 2013 for any activities that normally occur or that were previously scheduled. This will allow our DPW and contract plowing teams to have the best opportunity to clear school lots and areas for an expected return to school on Monday, February 11, 2013.
We urge everyone to take all necessary precautions during and after the storm period to avoid injury and accident. We ask our young adults to assist with elderly neighbors and other people of need with shoveling and snow removal. Please stay safe and follow all instructions from public safety officials Friday and this weekend.
Further information will be posted when it becomes available.
