Snow Operations
Plows will begin to plow when there is approximately 2” of snow accumulation.  They start on the main drags and work their way onto the secondary roads. Roads are widened and intersections cleaned-up when the storm subsides.  Snow Emergencies are usually posted on the television stations. You can also look on this website, call the DPW office at 781-393-2419 or the Police Station at 781-391-6404.
If there is a posting on your street for Snow Emergency, please have your vehicle removed to avoid being towed and for City plows to clear streets from curb to curb. The City also employees hired equipment to assist in the snow-plowing operation.

After the storm, plows will continue to clear and widen streets as needed.  This could take up to 5-6 hours.  We apologize for any snow that is plowed in front of cleared driveways, our mission is to keep streets clear and safe and this may take several passes during a storm.

SNOW GUIDELINES

PARKING WILL BE ON THE EVEN SIDE THIS YEAR (2008-2009 WINTER SEASON)
IF THERE IS A FIRE HYDRANT IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME PLEASE CLEAR SNOW AWAY FROM IT
CITY ORDINANCE SECTION 74-114 IS IN EFFECT STATING THAT HOMEOWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE IN KEEPING THEIR SIDEWALK FREE AND CLEAR OF SNOW & ICE
IT WOULD ALSO BE BENEFICIAL IF YOU COULD CLEAR SNOW FROM CATCH BASINS. THIS WOULD HELP TO PREVENT FLOODING WHEN SNOW MELTS.
PLOWS MAKE SEVERAL PASSES DOWN STREETS AND ROADWAYS, PLEASE BE PATIENT
DO NOT SHOVEL SNOW BACK INTO PLOWED STREETS, THIS  CAN CAUSE A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION
ONCE SNOW HAS STOPPED, ALLOW PLOWS 5-6 HOURS TO WIDEN STREETS AND INTERSECTIONS PRIOR TO YOUR SHOVELING DRIVEWAY OPENINGS.
WIDER STREETS WILL HAVE SNOW PLOWED TO BOTH SIDES
